About Rachel G

Rachel G’s art influences extend all the way back into her childhood, with weekly visits to the opera, theatre, art galleries and museums while growing up in Brooklyn, New York. The child of eclectic parents, Rachel was exposed to a menagerie of interests including figure skating, French cuisine, nursing, boxing and jewelry making- all of which helped form the core of her artistic subject matter when she started drawing classes at age eight.

Rachel received her B.F.A. at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where she explored a variety of mediums, ultimately branching out into painting with oils and sculpting with stone as well as various other mix mediums.  Her her main subject matter stayed true to her childhood influences of body & movement with an abstract twist.

In 2000 Rachel moved to the island of Hawaii as an artist in residence at Kalani Honua – a retreat center for various creative outlets where she would later serve as general manager. While at Kalani Honua she developed and lead sculpting and photography workshops for Women’s Art Week Adventures and developed a love for the art of tattooing.

In 2007 Rachel relocated to Maui and is currently creating art and tattoos on the valley isle, as well as the other Hawaiian islands and international locations as travel permits.
